In the U.K, our partner charity the MCS, run the Great British Beach Clean. This year’s event is taking place between Friday 16th and Sunday 25th of September. The Marine Conservation Society’s remit is to fight for a cleaner, better protected and healthier ocean and the Great British Beach Clean is a week-long citizen science event where hundreds of beach cleans take place up and down the country. The beaches are not just cleaned up, but every piece of litter is recorded and tracked back to source. This in turn drives conservation efforts as data is then fed into the International Coastal Clean-Up Organisation to help make positive changes to our marine environment.

If you’d like to get involved and become a Beachwatch volunteer with the MCS, you can search here for events happening near you or you can even organise your own beach clean. It’s also a great option for team building or a corporate volunteer day out.

The Ocean Conservancy Website has information on global coastal clean-ups. You can also find more details about French Beach Clean Ups with the Surf Rider Foundation here. For Beach Clean Ups in Barcelona check here and lots of information for Germany here.

And if you can’t get to a Beach Clean event but you’d still like to help, don’t forget that 10% of profits from the sale of all Silver Sandals goes to the MCS and their fight against the ocean emergency. You can read more about their incredibly important work here and become a member of the MCS here.
