September 13th is Roald Dahl Day!

September is Roald Dahl's birth month and this year, on September 13th, he would been 101! There's all sorts of fun to be had to commemorate this best loved children's author and to raise money for Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity which funds specialist children's nurses across the UK.

You can join in the fun by visiting the Natural History Museum who are hosting a family festival called James & the Giant Weekend, inspired by James and his insect pals on September 8th - 9th.

You can also download a party pack and bring Roald Dahl day to your school. Find out more about how to get involved HERE

Or why not visit the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden? Here you'll find his original writing hut plus three interactive galleries. You can also pick up a village and countryside trail which will help you to explore the local area and spot key locations that feature in his books such as Danny's dad's petrol pumps from Danny Champion of the World; the house that was the inspiration for Sophie's orphanage in the BFG and Angling Spring Wood where Fantastic Mr Fox was set.

You can also visit Roald Dahl's grave in the nearby church cemetery of St Peter and St Pauls.

With an all girl team it's small wonder that a quick straw poll of the Salt-Water office saw Matilda come in as our favourite Roald Dahl book...what's yours?

Whatever you do on September 13th have a flushbunkingly gloriumptious time!

From the team at Salt-Water x
