Deborah Sfez - Parisienne Fashion Stylist
Deborah Sfez is a freelance fashion stylist specialising in kids wear. She styles campaigns and catalogues for various children's fashion brands and also works as a fashion editor for a number of kids magazines including Papier Mache, Luna, Nido and Collezioni. She has previously lived in Sydney, Marseille and Lyon but has settled in Paris, the city of love. As long as the bakery next door sells good croissants and pain au chocolat she's happy. She is particularly fond of the colour green, cabins (and books on cabins!), The Notebook, grissini, cheese and ginger hair.
WHAT COLOUR SALT-WATERS DO YOU HAVE?
Like a real Frenchie, navy & red!
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT LIVING IN PARIS?
To start the weekend with a croissant and a coffee and end it with a plate of wine & cheese!
WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST MEMORY?
On our family summer holidays in Ramatuelle, we would always get some tasty crêpes at the Grand Marnier store in Saint Tropez. I remember I had an obsession with the little clip they would give you to hold your warm crêpe. I started collecting them!
WHAT IS YOUR MOST PRIZED POSSESSION?
My grandmother's hand embroidered tablecloth, it’s worth all the gold of the world to me.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
The beauty of the wilderness; the unknown.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?
I don’t think I can tick a box when it comes to style since it often depends on my mood or the occasion. Most of the time, I would say casual as I often ride my bike around Paris and love being comfortable! I would say my favourite look is an oxford shirt tucked into a pair of high-waisted jeans and a pair of good old sneakers or Salt-Waters in summertime!
HOW DO YOU RELAX?
Good question, sometimes I wonder myself! I love spending time in sunny Marseille with my niece and family or catching up with my friends for a long (girly) dinner.
WHERE DO YOU LIKE TO SHOP?
As strange as it sounds, I don’t really enjoy shopping In Paris! For me, London, Copenhagen and Sydney is where it’s at. As long as I am abroad (If I can’t afford the trip, I shop on their online store!) I always find it more exciting to buy something in another city. It doesn’t even have to be a brand we don’t have in Paris – it could be Zara or H&M, you never know what you could find. My favourite stores are: And Other Stories, Cos, Princesse Tam Tam, Uniqlo and Monoprix. For online shopping, I could spend hours filling in virtual baskets on Asos, Gorman, Madewell and Jcrew.
WHAT IS ON YOUR BEDSIDE TABLE?
Crosswords and a book by Sylvain Tesson that I haven’t started yet!
WHERE ARE THE LAST THREE PLACES YOU HAVE TRAVELLED TO?
Australia, Vietnam and Dijon in Bourgogne!
WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?
My mum and sisters - without them I wouldn’t be who I am today.
