WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?

I spent my childhood in Madrid, but I kind of “grew up” while living for two years in Bath (UK) on my own.

WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST MEMORY?

Learning how to swing in the backyard of daycare at the age of 3. I remember feeling very proud of myself!

YOUR BLOG, 'MADRID, MARTINA AND MYSELF' is an ode to motherhood. Why did you start to write it?

When Martina was around 18 months I started looking for plans and activities in the city that we could do together. My earlier posts were about going out and about in Madrid and I wanted to let other mothers know about the possibilities that existed beyond the playgrounds.

IT IS CLEAR FROM YOUR BLOG THAT YOU ARE A DEVOTED MUM - HOW DO YOU DIVIDE YOUR TIME BETWEEN WORK AND FAMILY?

I don’t… there are times with my family when I am taking photos or discovering new places to write about in the blog, so that can be kind of working too… But also there are times with them when my mobile is on silent and I won’t check it for hours so I can fully enjoy that time with them.

A LOT OF THE PHOTOS ON YOUR BLOG FEATURE SALT-WATERS - HOW DID YOU DISCOVER THE BRAND?

I follow quite a few American bloggers and, as you know, Salt-Waters are really well known over there. They looked so comfy, cute and cool that I had to have a pair for me and Martina (was 2 years old by then). Since then, they are an every summer must in our wardrobe.

WHO IS YOUR STYLE ICON?

I like the effortless chic look, but I don’t know much about fashion, so I don’t have any “icon”. I like mixing and having few but great quality items.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK TO READ TO YOUR DAUGHTERS?

I love the classics such as “The Gruffalo”, “Where the wild things are” “Good night moon”…

WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?

My mum. She is just amazingly charming!

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT?

I would say getting my second BA while raising the girls. Though I would not have gotten it without my family’s and husband’s support; it was really tough to get as by then I had two under 4!

WHAT ARE THE TOP FIVE THINGS YOU RECOMMEND FOR A FAMILY TO DO WHEN VISITING MADRID?

Get lost around “Barrio de Las Letras” and “Conde Duque” neighbourhoods, where you can find great and unique shops.

Visit the not so well known museums like “Caixa Forum” or “Museo Sorolla”, they are great for kids!

Get on the “Teleferico” to see Madrid from the sky. It's an oldie but a goodie and it takes you to “Casa de Campo”, a great place to have a picnic.

Sunsets in Madrid are quite impressive. Best places to watch it are “The Debod Temple”, and “Las Vistillas”.

And of course, visit mammaproof.org (Madrid) to know all the plans and cool family friendly places to visit during your stay.
